FAQ - Baby Slings
When can I carry my baby?
As soon as you feel fit enough after the birth, nothing will stop you from doing this. The way you tie the baby should support it well so that it neither collapses nor falls to the side. The baby's head should be held securely.
Can a newborn baby be carried upright in a sling?
Yes. If the baby is wrapped tightly in the sling. The sling will enclose the baby's back tightly and securely. The sling must be tied in such a way that the baby's head is well supported and held.
Is carrying a baby in the first 3 months after birth too hard for the pelvic floor?
No. If you choose the right tying method, carrying your baby can even support your own posture.
Does the baby get enough air in the sling?
Yes. The oxygen saturation in the blood is just as high in babies who are carried as in babies who are not. Important: always observe your child and make sure that the mouth and nose are clear.
How long can the baby be carried per day?
As long as the mother or father and the baby enjoy it, the sling or baby carrier can be used. The baby will clearly signal when it has had enough closeness. The length of time it is carried can vary from day to day. There are times when a child wants to be carried more (e.g. during growth spurts or illness) and times when there is almost no need.
Will the baby be spoiled if he or she is constantly carried around?
No! By fulfilling the baby's basic need for closeness and security, you strengthen it for its future!
What characterizes a good baby sling?
In short, a baby sling should have the following properties:
- diagonal elastic weave
- double-stitched cloth edges
- freedom from harmful substances in the raw cotton and the dyes
- Marking the center and different colored cloth edges make tying easier.
How long does a sling have to be?
In most cases, a 4.1 m to 4.6 m long sling is sufficient. A little more fabric is needed to tie the wrap cross sling. In this case, a 5.2 m long sling would be ideal. In any case, the wearer's clothing size plays an important role in the choice of length.
What is the best length of the sling so that the child's father can also use the sling?
Even if the father wants to carry his baby, the clothing size is also a deciding factor for the length of the sling. In most cases, a Storchenwiege® baby sling measuring 4.6 m is sufficient.
What should I dress my baby in when wearing a sling?
A small baby can be carried under a jacket. It will be kept warm by its mother or father. It can be wrapped in the clothes it wears at home. It should always have warm socks, a small scarf around its neck and a hat.
If the child is carried over the jacket or older children are carried on the back, they must be dressed warmly to protect them from getting cold. We recommend a babywearing jacket or a babywearing cover.
In summer, it is important that the baby is well protected from the sun. Light, body-covering cotton clothing and a sun hat are ideal for this.

What shipping methods are available?
We ship our orders with our partner DHL and you will receive a tracking code with your order to follow your package.
How much are the shipping costs?
The currently valid shipping costs can be found in point 5 of the General Terms and Conditions.
How long is the delivery time?
We will ship your order the next day or at the latest the day after you place your order or receive your payment if you choose advance payment. Our partner DHL will deliver your order to you in 1 to 2 working days.
FAQ - Complaints and Returns
How can I avoid a return?
Please inform yourself in detail about our products in advance and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
We also always recommend that you seek advice from a babywearing consultant in your area. Here you can try out different carriers and get answers to your personal questions.
We would also advise against ordering a selection of items in order to protect our environment. Before you buy, think about which color suits you best. You can of course also order different colors and combine your carrier or shawl with the rest of your clothes as a fashionable accessory ;-)
How can I complain about my order?
We always deliver products of very high quality and try to make our service as optimal as possible for you. Unfortunately, we can still make mistakes. In this case, please contact us directly. Together we will definitely find a solution.

In this case, please send us an email to info@storchenwiege.de with all the details of your order and your complaint. Please tell us exactly what you would like to complain about. If there are product defects, please also send us a few photos. This way we can resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
How do I return something?
To send your order back to us, please contact us in advance. You will find an initial explanation in the answer above and further details in the cancellation section. Here is the link.
What is important for shipping is whether it is an error on our part (e.g. you were delivered the wrong product or the product itself is faulty) or whether you want to return your order for another reason.
If it is an error on our part, you will receive a prepaid return label from us. If you would like to return your order for another reason that is beyond our control, we ask that you take over the shipping process.
Where do I send a return?
In the case of a justified cancellation, you will receive a return label from us with all relevant information. If the cancellation is not justified, you can send the package to the following address.

How do I get my money back?
The refund will be made using the same method you used to pay for your order.
Please understand that we cannot issue a refund until the product has been returned to us and inspected. However, we cannot accept dirty or otherwise heavily used products and ask that you treat them with care when trying them out if you are still unsure.
